Jacqueline Butler Coale
Jacqueline Butler (Coale) is the music teacher and co choir director at KIPP Unity Primary. She is new to Houston, but has spent the past 6 years working in music education and choral direction in South Mississippi, including PreK, elementary, middle school, high school, college, and church music. She also was a voice teacher, music director, and collaborator with the nationally recognized Lynn Meadows WINGS Performing Arts program. She has completed her level one Orff certification and is a member of Texas Music Educators Association.Prior to teaching, Mrs. Butler sang with many ensembles in the New England area and in South Mississippi, most notably with the early music ensemble A Joyful Noyse and as a soloist with the Gulf Coast Symphony Orchestra. Mrs. Butler holds her Bachelor of Arts in Music from Millsaps College and a Master of Music from Louisiana State University.
Tyler Beck is the Dean and co-choir director at KIPP Unity. He was the founding music teacher at Unity. In 2019, Tyler led KIPP Unity’s Choir, made up of 2nd and 3rd graders, to a 2nd place finish in the Aldine Choir Festival, where they competed against over 50 other choirs. Tyler has also worked with the Houston Children’s Choir, Chapelwood United Methodist Church, and teaches private piano and voice lessons. Tyler received his undergraduate degree in Music Education from the University of Missouri; and his Masters in Vocal Performance and Pedagogy from the University of Houston.
